The largest Greek community in the United States has been diving for sponges from Tarpon Springs, Florida for more than a hundred years. Located on the Anclote River in Northwest Pinellas County, this is a great destination to launch a ferry trip to the outer islands, sample great Greek cuisine from more than 20 restaurants and bakeries and tour the history of this vibrant community. Just set your GPS for The Sponge Exchange at 735 Dodecanese Blvd in Tarpon Springs. During the day you can take a special boat trip to demonstrate traditional sponge diving, check out the history museum and visit the shops for souvenirs and specialty apparel. In the evening, dining is enriched by music and song. Opa!!!
